Job Title: Full-Time Special Education Teacher – High School (Resource Caseload, English Focus)
Location: near Steilacoom, WA
Job Type: Full-Time
Grade Levels: 9th – 12th
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
- Provide direct instruction and support in English, focusing on developing reading, writing, and comprehension skills.
- Work closely with general education teachers to adapt English curriculum and ensure inclusive learning for students with disabilities.
- Manage a resource caseload of approximately 30 students, providing both one-on-one and small group instruction.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies to meet individual needs and IEP goals.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student growth and engagement.
- Collaborate with parents, administrators, and other staff members to ensure the success of students.
- Participate in IEP meetings, providing input and updates on student progress.
- Ensure accurate documentation of student progress, goals, and assessments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Special Education (or a related field).
- Washington State Teaching Certification with Special Education Endorsement (or eligibility to obtain).
- Experience working with high school students with disabilities, especially in English language arts, is preferred.
- Familiarity with IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Patient, empathetic, and committed to creating an inclusive and positive learning environment.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
