Position Overview:
As a Special Education Teacher, you will work with students who require individualized educational support. Your role will involve creating a positive, structured, and encouraging environment where students can thrive academically and socially. You will collaborate closely with other teachers, staff, and families to support each student’s unique needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the needs of students with disabilities.
• Provide specialized instruction, both one-on-one and in small groups, across subjects such as reading, math, and life skills.
• Assess students’ progress, adjust instruction as needed, and communicate findings to families and school administration.
• Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment where students feel supported and respected.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, speech therapists, and other specialists to ensure comprehensive support for students.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress, behavior, and IEP goals.
• Participate in parent-teacher conferences, meetings, and professional development sessions.
• Uphold and model the school’s values and mission in all interactions with students, parents, and colleagues.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Special Education endorsement.
• Knowledge of IEP development and implementation.
• Strong understanding of teaching strategies for students with a range of disabilities (e.g., learning disabilities, autism, emotional disabilities).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams of educators, parents, and students.
• Patience, creativity, and a passion for supporting students’ academic and personal growth.
