Job Description: Special Education Teacher
Location: Ashdale, SC
Position Type: Full-time
Pay Range: $25-30/hr more with experience
Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team in SC. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students who have a range of special needs and will be committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment. As a Special Education Teacher, you will work closely with students, parents, and school staff to provide individualized educational support and ensure that students with disabilities receive the resources and instruction they need to succeed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in special education or related field.
Valid South Carolina teaching certification in Special Education (or eligibility to obtain).
Experience working with students with diverse disabilities, including learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and emotional/behavioral challenges.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff.
Ability to create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that fosters respect and encourages student growth.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Patience, flexibility, and a passion for working with students with special needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with differentiated instruction and behavior management strategies.
Familiarity with assistive technology and other tools to support students' learning.
Knowledge of state and federal special education regulations and best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with special needs.
Assess students' progress and adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning styles and needs.
Provide direct instruction in academic, social, and behavioral skills, tailoring the curriculum to support students' strengths and address challenges.
Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and support staff to promote inclusion and ensure the success of students with disabilities.
Monitor and document students' academic and behavioral progress, making adjustments to IEPs as necessary.
Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to discuss student progress, challenges, and strategies for home support.
Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and professional development activities.
Support students in transitioning between grade levels or to post-secondary opportunities, as appropriate.
Ensure that classroom activities comply with state and federal regulations for special education services
