Overview

DHH needed East of Grand Rapids, Minnesota to start nest school year. This teacher will serve as part of a district-wide Deaf and Hard of Hearing Team.

Grades: Pre-K through 12th
Caseload size: details will be in the interview

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in special education or a related field and Minnesota licensure

  • Teaching certification or licensure specific to special education or deaf education

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other sign languages

  • Specialized training in audiology, language development, and assistive technology

  • Experience working with deaf and hard-of-hearing students

Responsibilities

  1. Instruction and Assessment:

  2. Plan and deliver curriculum content using various communication methods (sign language, lip reading, assistive technologies)

  3. Conduct initial and ongoing assessments for DHH students

  4. Develop and adapt curriculum to meet students' needs

  5. Support and Advocacy:

  6. Collaborate with IEP teams to determine DHH-specific needs and services

  7. Utilize and maintain assistive technology and amplification equipment.

  8. Communication and Collaboration:

  9. Provide in-service training to staff and peers about hearing loss and its implications

  10. Collaborate with other professionals, including speech therapists and educational interpreters

  11. Maintain effective communication with students, teachers, staff, and parents
