As a School Physical Therapist, you will play a crucial role in the educational setting by providing specialized therapy services to students with physical disabilities or challenges. Responsibilities:
Assessment and Evaluation:
- Conduct thorough assessments to evaluate students' physical abilities, motor skills, and functional levels.
- Collaborate with educators, parents, and healthcare professionals to gather comprehensive information for individualized treatment planning.
Treatment Planning and Implementation:
- Develop and implement personalized treatment plans based on assessment findings and educational goals.
- Utilize therapeutic exercises, activities, and modalities to improve students' strength, range of motion, coordination, and mobility.
Therapeutic Interventions:
- Provide direct physical therapy services to students either individually or in groups, within the school setting.
- Instruct and guide students in therapeutic exercises and activities to improve their functional abilities and independence.
Qualifications:
- Licensed Physical Therapist (PT) with certification in school-based physical therapy (if required by state).
- Experience working with children or adolescents in a clinical or educational setting.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of developmental disabilities, orthopedic conditions, and therapeutic interventions appropriate for school-aged children.
