Position Overview:
Under the direction of the CEO, the Retail Pharmacy Manager will oversee all aspects of retail pharmaceutical services. This includes managing the procurement, distribution, storage, and administration of pharmaceuticals, ensuring all services comply with state and federal regulations. The Retail Pharmacy Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the success of the pharmacy through exceptional customer service, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide professional, friendly customer service over the phone and in-person.
Specific Competencies:

Compound and dispense prescribed medications and pharmaceuticals for patient care.

Review prescriptions for accuracy, formulas, and required ingredients.

Supervise pharmacy staff in mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.

Provide counseling on drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage to customers when appropriate.

Promote and engage with patients regarding pharmacy services and customer programs.

Ensure quality assurance practices are followed, particularly regarding controlled substances and hazardous waste disposal.

Maintain accurate pharmacy files, charge systems, and inventory management.

Instruct and mentor pharmacy interns and staff, ensuring proper state/federal ratios.

Resolve third-party prescription rejection issues and report medication incidents promptly.

Maintain loss prevention protocols and minimize profit loss.

Build strong working relationships with physicians and healthcare professionals to improve customer care.

Maximize sales and manage expenses effectively within the retail pharmacy.

Ensure currency and consistency of pharmacy policies and practices.

Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Exhibit teamwork, feedback acceptance, and contribute to a positive work environment.

Adapt to frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events while maintaining professionalism.

Qualifications:

Proven experience in retail pharmacy management or a similar leadership role.

In-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical regulations, including state and federal laws.

Strong leadership and communication skills.

Ability to handle complex or diverse information and apply critical thinking to pharmacy operations.

Customer service-focused with the ability to resolve difficult or emotional customer situations.

Ability to manage the operational aspects of a pharmacy, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
