We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Chemo Pharmacist to join the outpatient infusion pharmacy team at a major teaching hospital in Chicago. Position Overview:
This role is focused within the outpatient infusion pharmacy, supporting a large volume of oncology and hematology patients. The pharmacist will play a critical role in the preparation and verification of chemotherapy medications, collaborating with the oncology care team to ensure safe, effective, and timely medication management.

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: 13 weeks with strong potential to extend or transition to a permanent role

Schedule: Full-time, day shift (no evenings or weekends required)

Setting: Outpatient Infusion, within a large academic medical center (~600 beds)
Core Responsibilities:
-
Perform order verification for chemotherapy and supportive care medications
-
Supervise and oversee the work of pharmacy technicians involved in sterile compounding
-
Consult with physicians and nursing staff on drug therapies, dosage adjustments, and treatment plans

Monitor patient profiles for drug interactions, allergies, and appropriate dosing

Ensure compliance with all USP <797> and <800> standards for sterile product preparation

Participate in quality assurance, medication reconciliation, and patient safety initiatives

Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation in EPIC

Ideal Candidate:
-
Active Illinois pharmacist license in good standing

Prior experience working in an oncology or infusion pharmacy setting

Familiarity with chemotherapy regimens, handling of hazardous drugs, and sterile compounding

Strong communication and clinical decision-making skills

Team-oriented, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
