We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Chemo Pharmacist to join the outpatient infusion pharmacy team at a major teaching hospital in Chicago. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain exposure within one of the top-ranked health systems in the region and work alongside a high-caliber team of healthcare professionals.

Position Overview:
This role is focused within the outpatient infusion pharmacy, supporting a large volume of oncology and hematology patients. The pharmacist will play a critical role in the preparation and verification of chemotherapy medications, collaborating with the oncology care team to ensure safe, effective, and timely medication management.

Job Details:

  • Start Date: ASAP

  • Duration: 13 weeks with strong potential to extend or transition to a permanent role

  • Schedule: Full-time, day shift (no evenings or weekends required)

  • Setting: Outpatient Infusion, within a large academic medical center (~600 beds)

Core Responsibilities:

  • Perform order verification for chemotherapy and supportive care medications

  • Supervise and oversee the work of pharmacy technicians involved in sterile compounding

  • Consult with physicians and nursing staff on drug therapies, dosage adjustments, and treatment plans

  • Monitor patient profiles for drug interactions, allergies, and appropriate dosing

  • Ensure compliance with all USP <797> and <800> standards for sterile product preparation

  • Participate in quality assurance, medication reconciliation, and patient safety initiatives

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation in EPIC

Technology & Systems:

  • Electronic Medical Record: EPIC

  • Automated Dispensing: Pyxis

Ideal Candidate:

  • Active Illinois pharmacist license in good standing

  • Prior experience working in an oncology or infusion pharmacy setting

  • Familiarity with chemotherapy regimens, handling of hazardous drugs, and sterile compounding

  • Strong communication and clinical decision-making skills

  • Team-oriented, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
