Assignment Length: 13 weeks (with potential for temp-to-hire or direct hire)
Responsibilities Include:
Inpatient Duties:
-
Perform and supervise sterile compounding according to USP 797 and hospital policies
-
Perform and supervise hazardous sterile compounding in compliance with USP 800
-
Verify and review prescriber orders for accuracy, appropriateness, and adherence to formulary standards
-
Collaborate directly with physicians, nursing, and ancillary staff to optimize patient care
-
Manage medication inventory, including controlled substances, with strict adherence to regulations
-
Dispense medications accurately and document interactions with providers and staff
-
Distribute medications across healthcare clinics, ORs, and clinical service areas
-
Conduct patient interactions including medication histories and counseling
Outpatient Duties:
-
Review and dispense prescriptions using clinical judgment and safety protocols
-
Maintain accurate patient profiles and pharmacy records
-
Oversee inventory of controlled substances and ensure full compliance with DEA, BNE, and institutional regulations
-
Monitor and evaluate medication therapies in collaboration with healthcare teams
-
Counsel patients on prescriptions, side effects, drug interactions, and OTC medications

Answer medication-related inquiries from patients and providers
-
Supervise pharmacy technicians per NYS regulations and network policies

Actively participate in quality assurance processes, MAR reconciliations, and medication incident reporting
Requirements:
-
Active and clear pharmacist license in the state of New York

Demonstrated experience with sterile and hazardous compounding in line with USP 797 and USP 800
-
Must be fingertip and media fill tested or able to complete testing prior to assignment start

Minimum of 3 years of inpatient hospital and outpatient pharmacy experience

Deep understanding of formulary adherence, medication safety standards, and interdisciplinary communication

Strong clinical judgment, organizational skills, and leadership ability
