We are seeking a skilled and dependable Staff Pharmacist for an immediate opening in a hospital setting in Alaska. This pharmacist will play a vital role in assuring safe, efficacious, and cost-effective drug therapy, while supporting overall patient outcomes and health system goals.

Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Travel
Setting: Inpatient Hospital
Experience Required: Recent hospital pharmacy experience
License Requirement: Current, unrestricted Alaska Pharmacist License
Vaccination Requirement: Must be flu vaccinated

Responsibilities:

  • Review and evaluate all prescriptions for therapeutic appropriateness, contraindications, interactions, and patient-specific factors.

  • Provide clinical consultation to medical and nursing staff and resolve medication-related issues.

  • Accurately verify and dispense prescriptions, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.

  • Counsel patients on proper medication use, expected outcomes, and side effects.

  • Perform chart reviews and medication therapy management.

  • Direct and verify pharmacy technician activities and support pharmacy students and staff as needed.

  • Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives, formulary decisions, and operational policy development.

  • Provide drug information, education, and health promotion activities to patients and clinical staff.

Requirements:

  • PharmD or B.S. in Pharmacy (with 3+ years of hospital/clinic experience if licensed before 2003)

  • Current Alaska Pharmacist License in good standing

  • BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers

  • Strong clinical knowledge and ability to interpret labs, patient charts, and medication histories

  • Proficiency with pharmacy software systems and technology

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and handle critical decision-making

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Preferred:

  • Completion of an ASHP-accredited residency program
