Hours: Full Time 40 hours
Start: August 29th
Caseload options: Elementary students with autism
Compensation: 40-50+ an hour depending on qualifications and experience
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly qualified Special Education Teacher to provide specialized instruction to students with disabilities. As a certified Special Education Teacher, you will work under the direction of the Building Principal and Director of Special Education to develop and implement Individualized Educational Programs (IEPs) for assigned students.
Responsibilities:
- Provide research-based specialized instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each student's IEP
- Assess student progress and determine the need for additional reinforcement or adjustments to instructional techniques
- Employ various teaching techniques, methods, and principles of learning to enable students to meet their IEP goals
- Develop and implement annual IEP plans for students
- Coordinate the delivery of special education services in each student's IEP
- Create a positive learning experience with emphasis on individualized instruction
- Work collaboratively with colleagues
- Serve as primary contact for parents
- Conduct special education evaluations and reevaluations
- Provide direction, supervision, and evaluation of educational assistants as directed
- Comply with School Board policies and all state/federal rules and regulations
- Complete all district and state reporting requirements
Requirements:
- MUST POSSESS A VALID SPECIAL EDUCATION CREDENTIAL FOR THE STATE
- Education and experience as required by state authorities
- Ability to work under a degree of stress related to duties that require constant attention and working with students
- Physical demands are restricted to classroom work requiring lifting/moving of items up to 25 pounds
