About the Role:
As a Special Education Teacher, you will have the chance to make a direct impact on students' lives by supporting their academic, social, and emotional development. You will collaborate with an amazing team of teachers and staff, working together to create individualized education programs (IEPs) that help students reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement IEPs to meet each student’s unique learning needs.
- Provide direct instruction and interventions to ensure students are receiving the support they need to thrive.
- Work closely with general education teachers, specialists, and parents to ensure alignment and consistency in student support.
- Execute positive behavior support plans and foster an inclusive, positive classroom environment.
- Supervise educational technicians or paraprofessionals in providing additional classroom support.
- Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations for special education programs.
- Track student progress and communicate regularly with parents and staff to update on progress and adjust plans as needed.
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education (Master’s preferred).
- Michigan Special Education Teaching Certification.
- Experience with creating and managing IEPs is a plus.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A passion for making a difference in the lives of students with disabilities.
