Job Posting: Special Education Teacher/Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher – New Mexico

Are you an experienced educator with a passion for working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students? We are seeking a Special Education Teacher/Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher to join our dedicated team in New Mexico.

This full-time position offers a collaborative environment, small class sizes, and a supportive team to help students thrive.

Position Details

  • Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM (students finish at 2:30 PM and 12:15 PM on Wednesdays).
  • Classroom Ratio: 2 adults per 8 students.
  • Caseload: 6-8 students.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction and support tailored to meet the needs of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for each student on the caseload.
  • Utilize American Sign Language (ASL) to communicate effectively with students and facilitate learning.
  • Collaborate with families, interpreters, and related service providers to ensure a holistic approach to student success.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes academic and social development.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, making adjustments to instruction as needed.

Qualifications

  • Valid New Mexico Teaching License with Special Education or Deaf/Hard of Hearing endorsement.
  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required.
  • Experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students is preferred but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment.
