Travel Imaging Duties
A traveling imaging technician must know how to work with a variety of different equipment, patients and coworkers. Aside from having the normal duties of an imaging specialist, a traveling image specialist must also be aware of the different standards and practices that are specific to certain states and locations. On a day-to-day basis, the traveling imaging technician will be required to use medical equipment to create diagnostic images, prepare patients for imaging procedures, keeping accurate patient records, administering drugs that make internal organs appear brightly on images, using x-rays or MRIs as part of the diagnostic process, and help move patients around in a safe and comfortable manner. A traveling image technician must be compassionate, patient, creative and analytical. They must have great attention to detail, good hand-eye coordination and good physical stamina, as the job requires the professional to be on their feet for most of the day.
Travel Imaging Education Requirements
A prospective travel imaging technician at entry-level must have an associate’s degree in radiologic technology, while a bachelor’s degree is even more recommended. Studies in the field of sonography, nuclear medicine, or radiology help the traveling image specialist land a career in the field of their choice. There is also a degree of clinical training required, as most hospitals will ask that the travel imaging specialist have a certain amount of experience before entering the job. Some states require certain licensure, which should be pursued by a professional who expects to travel a lot. Aside from the key licensing requirements, a travel imaging specialist must also shave great interpersonal skills and technological intelligence in order to get the job done accurately and efficiently.
Travel Imaging Job Market
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the salary for medical imaging technicians can vary depending on the technician’s location and experience. There is a higher demand for traveling image technicians than there is for normal image technicians, making this an ideal career path for someone who is interested in sonography or a related field.
